Kat Olausson is Head of Data, Analysis and Insight at the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority. She leads the development of data, evidence and analytical approaches that support regional decision making, investment and economic transformation.

Her work focuses on the opportunities devolution creates to use data more strategically, from connecting evidence across policy areas to developing new ways of understanding places, outcomes and the impact of public investment. She is particularly interested in how local and regional governments can build stronger analytical capability to improve policymaking and public value.

Prior to joining the North East MSA, Kat held senior data and insight roles in the private sector. With experience spanning both sectors, she is passionate about turning data into actionable insight and ensuring evidence plays a central role in shaping decisions.
